The cooperative was established on the 4th February, 2001 and registered with the Kwara State Ministry of Commerce and Cooperative on the 30th may, 2006 with Registration number KWS/7140. It is interesting to mention that few members of staff at Baptist LGEA School, Okuta initiated for the need to formally form a cooperative venture. Persons voluntarily join together through their economic, social cultural needs and aspirations making monthly contributions to the capital required. The cooperative for years was sustained through operations which were based on the Golden rules of open membership, democratic control, political and religious neutrality. Today the cooperative society has succeeded in serving as a spring board for teachers economic advancement that the impacts can be seen among the retired and serving teachers across the local government. It is the crop of the teachers that constitute the committee of the NUT CTCS with their ability to perform their duties efficiently that makes the society. Today the cooperative has made remarkable progress and have been accepted as a reliable avenue of the teachers social transformation and economic improvement. The cooperative has been able to accommodate these goals because of the spontaneous and natural ways in which members associate and acts as group.
